Observant SLI reader Matt Bowerman spotted the latest issue of Good Magazine on the stands in Austin Texas, sporting a cover story on Second Life. Unfortunately, the story chronicles one apparently sex-obsessed writer's wanderings and musings on his lack of a virtual penis. [Caution - contains a virtual penis image]

People who are familiar with Second Life will immediately find author Morgan Clendaniel's narrative littered with inaccuracies, and misleading turns of phrase. Heck, there are five assorted penis references by the time you get to the bottom of the second paragraph, where the author felt the need to violate the gambling ban to bankroll himself some genitalia.

Bolstering the "one man's search for a penis" narrative, is some supporting material and research. The piece aspires to become balanced, and it comes close, but seems to fall short of the mark and finishes with penises again. It's obvious that Clendaniel didn't have a great time. "Something fun and social must be happening in Second Life," he writes, "but it certainly isn't happening where I am."

While many journalists cover SL from the sex angle, I've never read an article this detailed and in-depth. It's a well-done piece (so to speak), and covers the workings (and dysfunction) of an Xcite penis 'in the field'. It made me laugh, but it also made me think. And for those of you still wondering, yes, that last sentence was meant to be read satirically.

Seriously, however, I appreciated this article from the standpoint of someone who's gone through the exact same experience as this journalist has. Read it through; it's lengthy, but a fun ride ... just like sex should be. (Alert: text and photos are NSFW)

At 21:00 (9pm) SLT, yet another in a series of goo attacks started to hit the grid. Essentially identical to all the others, except the name and the message. The object this time is called Christmas Present and spams the message "FELIZ NAVIDAD MOTHERF***ERS" [elided] while sending copies of itself out at random to passers-by.

The objects themselves are physics enabled, slowing sims to a crawl, and make a sound that might be laughing, but sounds like sobbing. They're hollow green penises, with jaunty Santa-style stocking caps. The several hundred that I saw were all owned by an avatar named llMakeExplosion Toll.

Our parent site Joystiq scooped us on a story in Second Life. Ross Miller tells us about one of the many hazards of being in Second Life. During an interview with CNET, Second Life's first Millionaire was pummeled with penises. The assault took place over a period of 15 minutes and sadly enough the assailant was able to escape. Video and images of this event are on Something Awful.

It is currently assumed that it is the result of animosity held towards Chung by many people in world. However, no matter your opinion towards others do not assault them in world, especially not with a bombardment of severed Penises. I do look forward to how this will read in the next TOS update. But remember as a general rule, never throw your penis at a millionaire.
